What 220-1102 was
220-1102 was the Core 2 exam of the CompTIA A+ V14 series (launched April 2022), covering operating systems, security, software troubleshooting and operational procedures.
What changed in 220-1202
- The same four domains, re-weighted: Operating Systems 28%, Security 28%, Software Troubleshooting 23%, Operational Procedures 21%.
- Security gained the most: zero trust, passwordless sign-in, EDR, MDR and XDR, QR code phishing and business email compromise are now in scope.
- Operational Procedures added change management types, backup recovery, and topics on managing AI use.
If you passed 220-1102
Both A+ exams must come from the same series. A 220-1102 pass without a matching 220-1101 pass from before the V14 retirement can't be combined with a V15 exam: you need both 220-1201 and 220-1202. A full A+ certification earned on V14 stays valid for three years from the day you earned it.
