SAA-C02 has retired. The current exam is SAA-C03.
AWS retired AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (SAA-C02) on August 29, 2022. If you are starting now, you will sit SAA-C03 (AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate).
What SAA-C02 was
SAA-C02 was the 2020 to 2022 version of AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, the exam on designing secure, resilient, high-performing and cost-optimised architectures on AWS.
What changed in SAA-C03
- More than 90% of the task statements carried over; many were reordered or renumbered.
- One new task statement: choosing high-performing data ingestion and transformation solutions.
- More emphasis on security, resiliency, large data volumes and cost optimisation.
If you passed SAA-C02
Your Solutions Architect – Associate certification from SAA-C02 stays valid for three years from the day you earned it. To recertify, you take the current exam, SAA-C03.

Study guides and question banks written for SAA-C02 cover an outdated objective list. Check that anything you use says SAA-C03.
